Minimally invasive Surgery Program
BASIC Level
The FTMISP for General and Pediatric Surgery is divided in 3 levels: BASIC, INTERMEDIATE, EXPERT and each level is composed by individual courses (the “steps” of the Program).
The BASIC Level for General and Pediatric Surgery includes the First TOUCH, Second TOUCH, Hernia TOUCH and Biliary TOUCH
First TOUCH
Introduction to Surgical Residency Course
First TOUCH is the main door to the whole FTMIS Program.
Covering a wide range of abdominal pathologies, fundamentals of surgery, wounds, and acute surgical treatment, the FT helps the new residents to start Residency with more confidence and autonomy.
At the end of the course, trainees learn the basics of laparoscopy and receive their own First Trainer® and laparoscopic instruments.


Second TOUCH
Introduction to Minimally Invasive Surgery and Laparoscopic Suture Course.

After the First Touch Course, the Second Touch prepares trainees for the next steps of the program as it covers the fundamentals of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Laparoscopic Suture.

The course ends with a simulation of a “safe” appendectomy procedure on a specific silicone model.
Hernia TOUCH
Abdominal Wall and Hernia Surgery Course
Covering a wide range of abdominal hernias but with a special focus in Inguinal and Ventral Hernia, and their technical aspects, tips and tricks.
The course ends with a simulation hands-on session on MIS Inguinal & Ventral TAPP and IPOM techniques.


Biliary TOUCH
Biliary and Hepatic Minimally Invasive Surgery Course
This Course covers the topics about safe Cholecystectomy and “minor” Hepatobiliary procedures, their technical aspects and tips and tricks of these procedures.
The course ends with a simulation session of a “safe” Cholecystectomy and Laparoscopic biliary exploration on an innovative silicone model.
